Itinerary
Day 1 :
Transfer from Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park
We will start the trip from Entebbe or Kampala and drive westward to Kibale National Park. You will enjoy excellent views of western Uganda's farmlands. The drive from Entebbe/Kampala to Kibale National Park will take ~6hrs. An optional visit to the Bigodi community tourist site is scheduled in the afternoon.
Day 2 :
Chimpanzee trekking at Kibale forest & transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
You will head to the Kibale forest immediately after breakfast to trek the chimpanzees in their forest home. If you are lucky on the trek, you might encounter other species of monkeys in the Kibale forest. These include the colobus monkey, olive baboon, and red-tailed monkey. Transfer from Kibale Forest National Park after chimp trekking to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park will go through the spectacular Fort Portal crater lakes. And will take about 3hrs drive.
Day 3 :
Kasenyi Plains Game Drive and Kazinga Channel Boat Trip at Queen Elizabeth National Park
Kasenyi Plains Game Drive
You will start the day with an early morning breakfast at the lodge. Afterward, we proceed to the famed Kasenyi Queen Elizabeth National Park plains to spot wild animals. Kasenyi plains dwell in the vast savannahs of the Albertine Rift in Queen Elizabeth National Park. It will be a morning full of adventure! Expect to encounter lions, herds of buffalos, elephants, Uganda kobs, topi, and bushbucks. While spotting the "Big Five" in the park is not guaranteed, on a lucky day, you may see site leopards make it to the "Big Four." We will return to the lodge for lunch.
Kazinga Channel Boat Trip
After lunch, join the Kazinga channel boat cruise for an afternoon of wild game viewing. You will spot crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and a wide range of bird species on the channel waters.
Day 4 :
Transfer to Bwindi National Park via the Ishasha sector to spot tree-climbing lions
The tour will take you through the stunning landscapes of western Uganda. We will start the journey in the morning with a drive to Bwindi National Park. You will arrive at Queen Elizabeth national park in the late afternoon.
Ishasha sector for tree-climbing lions
On the way from Queen Elizabeth National Park's prominent peninsular at Mweya, we will drive through the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, popularly known for the tree-climbing lions. Unlike their counterparts at the Kasenyi plains, the lions at Ishasha have found a way to climb the fig trees to enjoy the warm temperatures available in the park. While the sighting of the tree-climbing lions is not 100% guaranteed, a stopover at Ishasha is worth a visit!
Day 5 :
Gorilla Trekking at Bwindi National Park & Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
You will head to the Bwindi National Park gate immediately after breakfast to get a briefing about the gorilla trek. The national park guide will conduct a presentation that covers the basics of what to expect during the gorilla trek. The national guide will assign the gorilla trekking group during the pre-trekking briefing. Other visitors will likely join you. The gorilla trek can take a few to many hours, depending on how far the gorillas are inside the forest. Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi after the gorilla trek. The drive from Bwindi National Park to Lake Bunyonyi will take about 2hrs.
Day 6 :
Transfer from Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park for Evening Game Drive
We will drive from LakeBunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park. On the way to Lake Mburo, we will stop for lunch at the Igongo cultural centre near Mbarara town. After lunch, we proceed to Lake Mburo National Park and join a night game drive for wildlife game viewing. The night game drive provides a chance to spot the leopard and other wildlife.
Day 7 :
Game Drives at Lake Mburo and Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe via the Equator Crossing
We will start the day will early morning game drives at Lake Mburo National Park to spot wildlife not seen at other parks. These are topi, zebras, and impala. This will be the last day of the trip. We will continue the journey to Kampala. We will make a stopover at the Equator crossing for coffee and handicraft shopping en route to Kampala. You may fly to the next destination or stay in Kampala or Entebbe for overnight.
